too quickly.

hey neighbors-
y'know how when it's nice out,
the day is over way too quickly?
jeez.
that's no joke.
the line-of-sight perception of the passage of time
arcs along the gravitational curve of the planet or somethin'-
that's heavy.....literally.
i mean it.
it feels like instead of going straight up and out into infinity,
it bends towards sunset, even if you're not facing west.
ha.
i took crabtree for a hike and a half yesterday, and he loved it,
then,
i got home, and (*gasp*) i left my little man OFF LEASH-
we must've done something to really endear ourselves to that dude lately,
because he was the cutest little shark-bullet all damned day long, duders.
running back and forth to check in on  ampy-d and i,
while we did some serious hard workin' yard workin'.
i was very impressed by, and infinitely grateful for the help,
and for the terrific terrorist terrier who hung out at heel for the whole afternoon.
guys,
there was raking, leaf blowing, mowing, mulching, general mess-clearing,
and wholesale mess-making,
and even a whole holy helluva lot of dirty dog doo-doo and dust-up destruction.
hours of the day were eaten up by walking and working and sweating....
we got all kinds of gross,
and then we took a shower. well, crabby and i did, anyway,
and we were so fresh and so clean!
what goes great with clean butts and rumbly bellies?
leftover deep dish.
mmmmmmmm.
there were lefovers?
yeah, man.
those jauns weigh five pounds apiece.
i'm not trying to die yound because of pizza.
c'mon.
lunch was a shark-gluttonous feeding frenzy,
which was followed by a whole slew of errand-running chores and sh!t.
since when does responsible adulthood require so much upkeep?
seriously.
a whole day, munched up by things to do,
and only a fraction of 'em all got done?
i don't know who is in charge of time these days,
but i'm pretty sure they need a written warning.
here's the thing, tho-
dinner was no joke.
i only had a little minute to conjure some crucial comestibles,
and wisely, i freaked off some stir fry.
check the teleport:

WU-TANG!
coconut oil fired scallions, GPOP fried tofu cubes, poblano pepper,
jalapeno pepper, and huge garlic slices,
all sauteed up and hot as heck,
with thin carrot half-discs dropped in shortly after.....
to which i added some quick curry sauce-
-
a scoop of thai broth bouillon;
a splash of soy, and a splash of rice wine vinegar;
half a cup of coconut milk;
a quarter cup of hot water;
a big ol' dash of green pepper ho' sauce,
cayenne, turmeric, cumin, mustard seed, coriander,
GPOP, black pepper;
a teaspoon of freshly grated ginger and half a lime's zest;
two cloves of crushed garlic;
five or six leaves of shredded basil,
and a quarter cup of cilantro.
kaboom.
that's expert, and faster than the world, too.
-
i also added in some starch, and the hot hot fire thickened it
with the wicked sick quickness of a coconutty race towards excellence.
hahahaha.
there were sweet mini peppers steamed along the top,
and cashews, just because i had a small baggie of 'em
that just wasn't ample enough for anything else.
radishes on top, for crawnch, and spice.
that's the good stuff right there.
i spooned it out over some fresh baby spinach,
and served it with a big block of sticky coconut rice.
yeah.
with coconut milk, and coconut flakes, a little bit of lime,
and a teaspoon of coconut oil for a fuller flavor.
....it's so nice having a Folk Life & Liberty Fortress days and nights together.
i mean,
it isn't technically summer yet,
but it WAS warm and sunny,
and we all had the whole day to span together,
so it was practically the same.
.....
oh,
yeah.
and there was cucumber, and basil, and sweet golden orange tomatoes, too!
and a lime wedge for added activation!
and avocado slices for adding into everything!
oh, OH! and smoky soy-glazed big brussels, that were so woody and burly,
we ate 'em like artichoke hearts- scooping out the centers with our teeth an' that.
ha.
good food isn't something we joke about up here in the woodsly goodness,
and sometimes,
even when it feels like there's no time,
 there's still always a little minute somewhere
for getting expert in this kitchen.
i was baking while i was making,
i was baking before bed,
i was baking in the early a.m.when nobody was up,
and everything was closed.
there's a lot that goes on up here.
in the evening, on our canine-vehicle acclimation drive,
we watched the sun set, and the mountains take on that purple majesty,
and when we got home it was exercise and books and snugs,
and all of the mundane comforting routine stuff that fills in all the blanks.
hmm?
yeah.
it was a full day, and a good one.
i am lucky to have times like these,
and i'm happy to share these highlights when i can;
never quiet, never soft.....
