fathers' day!!!

HEY!
call your dad.
that's how that works.
moms get brunches, and flowers,
but the old men of the parental world aren't reppin' that style so much.
in fact,
just go ahead and head over to any brunch spot today,
then feast your eyes on the dearth of dads sipping mimosas.
that's not how it works.
fathers' day is like getting arrested:
you get one phone call.
ZING!
on the other hand, sometimes,
if you're not the sort to sit around and wait for breakfast in bed,
because perhaps you're specifically the earliest riser in the household-
you get to make something tasty for yourself,
and share it with your family...
i'm all about that type of new hottness,
and i'd like you to take a look at what's on the menu:

ployes bring the noise.
yeah, they really do.
and we've got those buckwheat crepes for everybody!!
thin and soft and flippin' expert.
word.
buckwheat flour, regular all-purpose flour, salt, flaxmeal, chia,
a little vanilla to juice 'em up right, and lots of soymilk-
what's inside?
oh MAN!
custom vegan mascarpone chee' boomboomfuego,
like magical soft cannoli roll-ups!
how'd i do it?
on the fly, as usual-
half a brick of superfirm tofu,
lemon juice,
3T creamchee',
a pinch of salt,
a pinch of powdered sugar,
and a handful of sliced almonds.
WORD!
and also,
holy sh!t, it's dope.
activated with big, fat succulent blueberries in there too?
those jauns are fer-OH-ciously amazing.
drizzled with real maple syrup,
because that's the only way to get ultimately elite at breakfast time every time.
hmm?
well, yeah,
there are powdered sugary sprankles, as well,
because i take my tasty business to eleven.
.....
and yes,
there are also homeboy fries.
OBVIOUSLY!
oven roasted tiny cubes of red potato, buttered-up and broth-blasted and baked,
all before the pan fried paprika and GPOP-rockin' sauteed-onion-activated
crisp-edged burliness.
yum.
parsley spranx are a must.
you know it.
i mean,
on the ones,
i do so like to pretty up my food.
*
i'm lucky to have people who give a crap about me.
harvest and maple are here for the first fathers' day in ages,
and i'm pretty psyched to have 'em around.
they even brought a bag of gifts!
yep.
having your kids around is something i never take for granted,
and i'm very grateful to span some of today with these fresh little dudes.
also,
ampy d brought the thunder,
and was the sweetest and most thoughtful one-
no, really....
check the teleport:

dog dad afternoon ukelele lightning!
i'm appreciative of all the affection and attention i've garnered this morning.
i mean,
everybody is awake already.
that in and of itself is surprising.
sure,
i've been up forever,
but these guys sleep for like, double-forever.
ha.
togetherness is in full effect.
happiness is unfolding around me.
and later,
after work,
i'll be serenading these lucky ducklings with crucial uke solos.
it's all really happening, because today is the day;
never quiet, never soft.....
