FLACO GORDO.

duders,
the power went out friday,
and that effed up my plans.
huh?
oh, you'd better believe that i'm a planner.
however,
without the juice coursing through the veins of my house,
the plan became moot,
and plan B had to be enacted.
here's the thing-
that meant i had to re-enact my pla on saturday,
because it was a damned good plan, and i wasn't about to let it slide
down and out into the aether of incompletion.
nope.
instead, a day later, but a whole lot more expert,
i put the procedures in place,
and let the motion be carried into an evening of epic edible elitism.
neighbors,
i'm going to need you to hold on to your hats, and check the teleport:

F'LACO GORDO?!?!!
tacos that are falafels that are fat!
word up.
let me tell you about those tortillas.
they're spelt, and buckwheat, with chia, and popped quinoa!
yuuuuup.
that's what's poppin',
and they've got a nitty-gritty nutty taste and texture
that made all of us pretty mutha-flippin' happy.
yeah, pouring pancakey crepes is time consuming.
however,
if you want that new-new hottness, you've got to put in the work.
rules is rules.
homemade falafel balls got fried up,
and i'll tell you what, kids-
garlic is good for you, and chick peas are pleasing,
but the spice blend is the key to truly heroic balls.
real talk.
crushed coriander seed, fresh cilantro and parsley,
cayenne, sumac, thyme, GPOP, toasted cumin, black pepper,
and crushed red pepper,
plus a little onion, and some garbanzo flour with flax-chia binders blasted in, too.
it's complicated, i s'pose, but it's F*ing tasty, and that's what i was shootin' for.
then,
we got the fixin's mixed in-
red cabbage and arugula!
lemon-parsley-scallion-cilantro salad!
pickles!
cukes!
pepperoncinis!
fancy tomatoes!
rainbow peppers!
shaved red onion!
STRAWBERRIES!!! (guys, with the arug'? perfection.)
...and then there's the sauces-
exxxtra-garlicky pure-lemon-liquid tahini!
garlic-cilantro-lime crema!!!
holy sh!t, kids.
the flavors are a combination of everything that's ever been good,
coupled up and fdoubled down with all future goodness,
and the potential for peace and prosperity in the wider waking world.
that's how delicious these b!tches were.
woooooooooooord.
and also,
i had one last blast of big action to share with my people-
sumac sprankles,
and turkish boomfire from the east- dried aleppo pepper sprankles!!!!!
get on it, get with it, or get lost.
build-your-own is my favorite, because the opportunity to customize
the perfect bite does exist, and when there's a whole unholy helluva lot of food,
in vast quantity and diversity,
the odds get better that the right stuff will find it's way to your mouth.
the directive remains:
too much is the right amount.

personally, i had seven tacos.
yup.
a reliably lucky number, and a really large pile of food,
at the same time.
is that sriracha on the second batch?
you bet your butt it is.
when it's time to rock it like a rocket, with some rocket leaves on it?
we doo-doo that freaky sh!t.
*
great food, with even better people,
sharing the wealth, and discussing the flavors.
my favorite things, all together in one place at the exact same time.
i know i am lucky to have what i've got,
and i'm doing my damnedest to do it justice;
never quiet, never soft.....
